Dry Processing
A method of coffee processing where the coffee cherries are left to dry in the sun before the beans are removed.
Pulping
Removing the outer layer of the coffee cherry to reveal the beans.
Fermentation
Using naturally occurring microorganisms to break down the mucilage surrounding the coffee beans.
Drying
The process of removing moisture from the coffee beans to prepare them for storage and transport.
Hulling
Removing the final layer of the coffee cherry to reveal the green coffee beans.
Grading
The process of sorting coffee beans based on size, density, and defects.
Milling
Removing the flaky “parchment” outer layers of the coffee bean to reveal the finished product.
